I’ve been a bit quiet lately with updates. I have almost completed the first demo song (and the first is always the hardest, as it sets the standard and determines whether the floodgates can be allowed to open or not).
I find this time of year very inspiring, and I know many people choose this time to enjoy Wolcensmen records. The main battle now is lyrical. Music flows easily, but lyrics do not, because I am very particular about the sentiments conveyed, the words used, the sound of the words used.
As some of you may know, Wolcensmen lyrics since the 2013 demo have always used what is sometimes referred to as ‘Anglish’ vocabulary. That means that I have only used words which have a truly English, Germanic origin; leaving aside all French, Latin and vocabulary imposed or taken from without. I have mentioned many times in interviews that this is intended as no slight upon France or the Latin world. The English language includes numerous French and Latin words because England was conquered, and I liked the idea of exploring an England prior to that conquest. It has always felt very poetic.
However, some of the first new lyrics for the forthcoming album contain non-Anglish words. I’m still trying to decide if they’ll remain or not.
