With great pleasure I can finally announce that Wolcensmen has signed a deal with esteemed Norwegian label Indie Recordings. Indie’s enthusiasm is exactly what I look for in a label; so I’m very glad to be working with them. With their support and encouragement I’m confident that the ideas I have for Wolcensmen can be properly realised.
‘Songs from the Fyrgen’ will be reissued by Indie. I worked closely with them to ensure that this is something special, rather than an effortless rehash of the original (which will remain unique both in terms of its sound and packaging). The debut album has now been remixed and remastered faithfully by Stamos Koliousis, showing the music in a slightly different light. I also went into the studio with producer Mark Mynett this summer to record an accompanying EP – ‘Songs from the Mere’. This EP (which features the cello talents of Jo Quail) will be included as a bonus CD with both the CD and vinyl reissues of the album; it includes four new compositions and a cover of Bathory’s ‘Man of Iron’.
In addition to new photography by the excellent Daniel Walmsley, the reissue includes in-depth liner notes discussing the meanings and processes behind the songs.
The ‘Songs from the Fyrgen’ reissue will be released on November 30th, on trifold digisleeve CD and gatefold vinyl, and can be pre-ordered HERE, along with an exclusive new t-shirt.
‘Songs from the Mere’ will be available as a standalone digital release on Bandcamp from January 11th.
Since the original Deivlforst CD pressing sold out over a year ago, I’ve had constant requests for a repressing. This has been as frustrating for me as it has for those wishing to acquire it, so I hope you’ll all accept this news positively.
And if all of this wasn’t enough, I’m completing the writing process for the next album – working towards a 2019 release.
Thank you all for the ongoing support.
